Your website has to make business possible

A company website today is a sales channel, a brand presence and the first point of contact for your customers all at once. That is why we do not build digital business cards but websites with a clear job: get found, convince, bring enquiries – and keep doing it for years, not months.

Very fast performance

We optimise images, fonts, code and caching for good Core Web Vitals. Actual values are checked after launch on real devices and connections.

Data protection as standard

EU hosting, locally embedded fonts and data-minimising analytics instead of unnecessary third parties – in many cases with no cookie banner at all.

Individual web design

Made to measure instead of a template: your website follows your brand, not the other way round. That creates recognition and trust.

SEO & AEO from the start

Sound structure, clear content and suitable structured data make the site easier for search and answer systems to process. They cannot guarantee rankings or source mentions.

WCAG 2.2 as the test framework

Open to everyone – and prepared for the Accessibility Act. Good for reach, for rankings and for taking responsibility.

Maintenance & security

Updates, backups and security checks keep the technology and data protection current – planned properly instead of left to chance.

How to decide

Website builder or agency website?

The direct comparison – so you can decide for yourself what suits your company.

Criterion Website builder (Wix and co.) FINK Brot + Kirby
Design a quick start with standardised design options tailored to the brand and its content
Load time performance depends on the theme, apps and setup performance measured and optimised in the project
SEO scope tools and markup depend on the platform markup and technical details can be adapted directly
Data protection data flows depend on the platform and apps EU hosting and third-party connections can be chosen deliberately
Room to grow extensions within the platform’s available options project-specific extensions can be developed
Long-term cost ongoing subscription; switching effort depends on the provider more initial work, with room for targeted extensions
The honest answer: A website builder can be a sensible option for a quick, clearly limited start. A custom solution requires more initial coordination but offers more control over structure, editing and integrations. The right choice depends on the actual requirements, not the size of the business.

Our tool

Why Kirby CMS – and not WordPress?

Kirby is a lean, file-based CMS with no database and no plugin sprawl. For you that means less attack surface, less maintenance and more speed.

  • No plugin zoo: Every function is built specifically for you – nothing superfluous that needs updates or opens security holes.
  • Fast by nature: Kirby's file-based architecture can provide a lean technical foundation. Actual performance also depends on images, code, hosting and ongoing maintenance.
  • A panel your team understands: Maintain content without a degree in technology – input forms made to measure instead of a jungle of fields.
  • Your website belongs to you: No vendor lock-in, no subscription trap – code and content stay in your hands.

Frequently asked questions about building a website

What does a professional website cost?
Cost depends on content, functions, languages and the services required; a dependable figure follows only after the scope has been defined together. A sound estimate starts with the actual scope: which pages and functions are needed, which content already exists, which copy or images must be produced and who makes decisions?
After the initial call, you receive a transparent proposal. It separates project work, optional tasks and ongoing third-party costs such as hosting or required licences. That makes the price easy to assess without beginning with a teaser figure.
How long does it take to build a website?
The schedule depends on scope, available content, review cycles and technical dependencies; a fixed standard duration would not be credible. We divide the project into verifiable stages: structure and content, design, technical implementation, content entry, testing and approval. At the start, we record which decisions and materials are needed and when.
A small site with finished content can progress much faster than a multilingual relaunch requiring new copy, images and integrations. The concrete schedule therefore belongs in the proposal and is updated visibly when the scope changes.
What is Kirby CMS – and why do you use it?
Kirby is a file-based CMS with an adaptable panel, well suited to websites whose content needs to remain clearly structured and maintainable. Kirby stores editorial content in files by default and can be adapted to a project without imposing a fixed page model. Editors see only the fields and components they actually need.
That alone does not make a site fast or secure. A restrained choice of extensions, sound templates, updates, backups and suitable hosting still matter. We plan and document those parts as well.
Why individual web design instead of a template?
Individual design is useful when the content, brand or functions do not fit an existing template reliably. A good template can be a sensible answer to a straightforward task. It saves time when its structure and design already suit the content and little adaptation is needed.
Individual design starts with the actual content instead: which questions need answers, which journeys matter and which visual elements belong to the brand? We recommend that work only where it makes a clear difference to use, editing or recognition.
How data-protection-friendly is my website?
We avoid unnecessary data transfers and assess each external function separately; that does not amount to a blanket claim of legal compliance. Local fonts, few third-party connections and deliberately chosen analytics reduce data flows and often the need for consent. Whether a cookie banner or another notice is required still depends on the services actually used and how they are configured.
We document the technical implementation in plain language. The final legal assessment depends on the website's concrete operation and, where questions remain, belongs with suitably qualified legal advice.
How important is loading speed?
Short loading and response times make a site easier to use; through Core Web Vitals, Google also considers real user experience. For a good Core Web Vitals assessment at the 75th percentile, Google states LCP of up to 2.5 seconds, INP of up to 200 milliseconds and CLS of up to 0.1. These are useful technical targets, not a blanket ranking or revenue promise.
We reduce unnecessary code, deliver suitable image sizes and review font, cache and hosting configuration. After launch, measurements from real devices and connections matter more than a single laboratory score.

Will ChatGPT and the like find me too?
This cannot be guaranteed; clear, evidenced and machine-readable content only improves the conditions for discovery and citation. Answer systems decide for themselves which sources they retrieve and mention. Website owners and agencies do not have complete control over that choice.
We create unambiguous pages, direct answers, traceable authorship, visible sources and suitable structured data. This helps search and answer systems interpret the content. Whether and when a particular mention occurs must be observed afterwards and remains the decision of the system concerned.
How often should a website be overhauled?
Not to a fixed calendar, but when content, technology, user needs or the brand provide a sound reason for change. Contact details, services, legal information and references should remain current. Technology and dependencies need regular updates and checks. A visual overhaul is useful only when the existing system is clearly getting in the way of the content or its use.
We therefore establish what still works well first. A targeted improvement is often enough; a complete relaunch is not a maintenance ritual.
What part do updates and security play?
Updates, backups and recurring checks are necessary operational tasks and need clear responsibilities. No CMS remains secure indefinitely without maintenance. We record who applies updates, how backups are tested and what happens after an incident. Extensions are added only when their benefit justifies the extra dependency.
Kirby's lean foundation can limit the number of moving parts. The actual effort still depends on the functions, integrations, hosting and frequency of change on the particular site.
Do you also take on SEO and ongoing support?
Yes. Scope and responsibilities are agreed separately, from technical SEO foundations to ongoing editorial work. A website project may include information architecture, meta data, structured data, redirects and Search Console setup. The proposal states which tasks are included and who remains responsible for content and checks after launch.
Ongoing SEO is separate work: observing queries and technical signals, improving content and documenting changes. It is optional and does not promise a fixed position.
