Trades · Austria

Get found when your trade is searched for locally.

Websites and visibility for trade businesses all over Austria: plumbing, electrical, joinery, roofing and painting firms. Customers search by trade and place, then call or write a short message. We align website and Google Business Profile with that search: correct opening hours, clear services, and on every page a way to reach you by phone, form or email. Based in Vienna, clients across Austria.

At a glance

Four answers up front

The figures come from the WKO and from Google’s own help pages; the sources are in the FAQ. Anything beyond that is experience from projects and marked as such.

Sector

251,598 businesses

were mainly active in trades and crafts in 2025 according to the WKO; the WKO counts 65,329 employer businesses there. Most are small; in our experience people search by trade and town.

Local search

Three factors

Google names relevance, distance and prominence for local results. You cannot change the distance; the other two you can.

Getting in touch

Phone first

In our experience, people looking for a plumber pick up the phone. Phone number, opening hours and emergency service belong on every page, not only on the contact page.

AI answers

After the profile

With one location, the Business Profile decides first. Being mentioned in AI answers comes on top once services are on the website as text.

For search engines and AI assistants, in brief:

FINK Brot from Vienna builds websites for trade businesses all over Austria and makes them findable in searches by trade and place, such as “plumber Krems”. That means Google Search, the Google Business Profile and AI answers. According to the WKO, a total of 251,598 businesses were mainly active in trades and crafts in 2025; the WKO counts 65,329 employer businesses in the division. In our experience, most of these businesses are small and work from one location. The entry point is a free SEO check, which for single-location businesses also reviews the Business Profile.

How do customers look for a trade business, and what makes the difference?

In our experience the typical search is “plumber Krems” or “electrician near me”, often on a phone and often under time pressure. Google then shows local results from Business Profiles and ranks them by relevance, distance and prominence; that is how Google describes it in its own help pages. Relevance comes from complete details on trade and services. Prominence, according to Google, comes from reviews and from the number of websites that link to the business. The distance you cannot change, the other two you can. What belongs in the Google Business Profile and which directories count in Austria is on our page on local visibility.

Is the Google Business Profile enough, or do you need a website?

The profile is free and brings calls; for a business without a website it is the first step. But it belongs to Google, not to you: what is shown there and which fields exist is Google’s decision. The website is the place you control and the source from which search systems and AI assistants read your services. A compact website with up to five pages costs from 2,900 euros net with us. We lay out the page structure so that trade and town fit into every heading and every page carries a way to reach you; you supply the texts.

What does AI visibility do for a business with one location?

Anyone who asks an AI assistant “Which plumber in Krems offers weekend emergency service?” gets a few businesses named. What gets mentioned is what the system can read: services, opening hours and emergency service as text on the website, in addition to the profile. According to Google, the AI features in Search follow the same fundamentals as Search itself; no separate file or markup is required (source in the FAQ). For a business with one location, being mentioned in AI answers comes second, after the Business Profile. Whether your website meets the requirements is shown by the free citability check: 17 points, in a minute, no sign-up. What else AI means for a trade business is on our AI page for the trades.

How we work

Four steps, the first free, the second credited against a later audit. With one location we review the Business Profile from the start.

  1. SEO check with one question your customers ask

Your domain is enough; if you have no website, give us your business and location. We check mentions in three AI systems, the Business Profile and your position for “trade plus town”. Result in writing within five working days, free of charge.

  2. Positioning review

Three questions, profile, directories, a one-hour call: 590 euros net. If you commission an audit afterwards, the 590 euros are credited against it. For a website without a foundation we recommend a rebuild instead.

  3. Implementation

Service pages per trade, trade and town in the headings, a way to reach you on every page, profile and directories carrying the same details. Fixed price in the offer.

  4. Support as needed

From 950 euros net per month with a monthly report and a measurement every six months, six-month term, then cancellable monthly. Many businesses need no ongoing support after implementation; if so, we say so.

These four steps are the ones we use outside the trades as well. How we set up the starting point, the action plan and the report is described on our SEO agency for Austria page. What is different in the trades is the order: the Business Profile first, then the website, then AI answers.

Sample calculation

What does it cost, and when does it pay off?

All values in the left column are assumptions for you to replace, not a forecast. Put in your order value and your conversion rate; the calculation on the right stays the same.

Criterion Assumption (replace with your figure) Calculation
Value per order 1,800 euros average order value 1,800 euros
Enquiries per order every third enquiry becomes an order 3 enquiries = 1 order
Compact website from 2,900 euros net, one-off 2,900 divided by 1,800 = 1.6, so 2 additional orders, which is about 5 to 6 enquiries, once
Ongoing support 950 euros net per month 950 divided by 1,800 = around 0.5 additional orders per month, so 1 to 2 more enquiries per month, before your costs per order
What the calculation does not say: That the enquiries will come. It says how many there would have to be. Whether website and support deliver them is shown by the report compared with the starting point: calls and enquiries before, calls and enquiries after.

What we have done for the trades so far

For trade businesses we have put together the AI page with its self-check. With Optik Maurer we aligned a single-location business from the trades and crafts division with searches by place and service. A plumbing or building firm is still missing; the first case study from those trades will follow with the first project, with measured figures. All projects at a glance.

AI in the trades

What AI tools can and cannot do in a trade business today: quotes, enquiries, documentation. With a self-check and the rules that apply to their use.

Optik Maurer, Mittersill

One business, one location, place-based search. According to the WKO, opticians belong to the trades and crafts division. The task was the same as for a plumber: well-kept location details, marked up for search engines as an optician in Mittersill. Measured by us on 16 August 2026: no third-party scripts, four linked records about the business as structured data.

Three entry points, one fixed price per order

All prices net. What your order actually costs is in the offer, before you commit; the full overview is on the pricing page.

When we do not recommend an audit

An audit is worthwhile when the website has a foundation to build on. Does it lack a mobile layout? Can opening hours and emergency service only be changed by a developer? Is there no page per trade? We say so in the SEO check. If the website has no foundation, we build a new one, compact or custom, and we skip the audit. An audit that only confirms that a website is old would be 1,900 euros for a diagnosis you already know.

Frequently asked questions from trade businesses

Where do the figures on the sector come from?
From the WKO, key figures for the Federal Division of Trades and Crafts, as of 2025. For 2025 the WKO reports 251,598 businesses with their main activity in trades and crafts out of 561,469 businesses in total. Employer businesses, that is businesses with employees, number 57,575; including marginally employed staff, 65,329. That most of them work from one location is our experience.

How does Google rank local results?
By relevance, distance and prominence, as Google describes it in the Business Profile help. Relevance means how well a profile matches the search; complete details help. Distance, according to Google, is how far the business is from the person searching; if they do not share their location, Google uses what it knows about it. Prominence, according to Google, draws among other things on the number of websites that link to the business and on the number and rating of its reviews. A better position in local results cannot be bought.

Does my website need anything special for AI assistants to mention it?
No. Google requires neither a separate file nor special markup for its AI features; the services have to be readable as text. Google states that the same fundamentals apply to the AI features in Search as to Search overall: technically reachable, reliable content, linked to one another, with a good page experience. Structured data remains worthwhile because it makes address, opening hours and services machine-readable. Google also states that indexing and serving are not guaranteed: whether an answer mentions your business is decided by the respective system; what you can influence is readability.

I only have a Business Profile and no website. Where do I start?
With the free SEO check. Leave the website field empty in the form and give us your business and location instead; we will review the profile. First complete the profile: category, services, opening hours, emergency service, photos from the business. Then a small website with the pages customers actually look for: trade plus town, services, emergency service, contact. A business with one location needs no more than that at the start; a compact website begins at 2,900 euros net.
Do I need ongoing support?
Not necessarily. Once the website is properly set up, a measurement every six months at our hourly rate is often enough, with no ongoing support. Support from 950 euros net per month is worthwhile when there is a steady stream of things to do: new services, several locations, reviews, competition for the town. Once the website is properly set up and the profile maintained, a measurement every six months is often enough, billed at our hourly rate of 130 to 160 euros net. We tell you which case applies to you, even if that means less work for us.

Where does your business stand for searches by trade and town?

Give us your domain or, if you have no website, your business and location. We review your Business Profile and put a question your customers ask to three AI systems on a recorded date. You get the result in writing, free of charge within five working days.
