Digital Services Act (DSA)

The Digital Services Act (DSA) is an EU regulation in force since 2024 that sets rules for online platforms and intermediary services on handling illegal content, on the transparency of advertising and recommender algorithms and on user rights, with stricter obligations for very large platforms.

In practice

The strictest DSA obligations apply to large platforms and marketplaces; most small and medium-sized business websites are not directly affected. As soon as a website allows user-generated content such as reviews, comments or forum posts, however, it should offer a straightforward process for reporting and removing unlawful content.
