Hashtag Strategy
A hashtag strategy defines which keywords preceded by a hash symbol a company uses under its posts, in order to categorise them thematically and make them findable in the platform's own search. It typically combines branded, topical and regional hashtags.
In practice
The importance of hashtags is frequently overstated: on several platforms they now mainly serve as topic labels rather than as a lever for reach, and providers have partly removed features such as following a hashtag. For local businesses in Austria, place names and regional keywords usually work better than generic terms attached to enormous numbers of posts. Define one or two branded hashtags and use them consistently so you can find posts by customers. Avoid long blocks of twenty or more tags, which reduce readability without any demonstrable benefit.
