SoftwareApplication Schema
SoftwareApplication is the schema.org data type for marking up software, apps or browser extensions with details of the name, category, operating system, price and ratings. Google uses this markup to show extended app information such as star rating, price and category directly in the search result.
In practice
For a rich result, Google requires three mandatory details: a name, a price offer via offers (with the value 0 for free apps) and either an aggregateRating or a single review that follows the guidelines for review snippets. applicationCategory, for instance GameApplication or BusinessApplication, and operatingSystem are recommended in addition. Without a rating the markup remains technically valid, but produces no visible benefit in search. Manipulated or aggregated ratings without a real user base breach the Google structured data guidelines and can lead to manual actions.
