Owned Community
An owned community is a space for exchange that a company itself runs or administers, such as a closed group, a customer forum or a broadcast channel. Unlike an open profile, it serves exchange between members rather than only messaging from the company.
In practice
An owned community pays off mainly where customers genuinely have something to say to each other, for example with products needing explanation, in associations or around specialist topics. For most businesses with straightforward services it is too demanding: without regular prompts, groups fall silent within a few months, and a dead group does more harm than good. Before starting, settle who moderates, which rules apply and whether the group should sit on a platform or on your own infrastructure. If you run a group on someone else's platform, member data usually cannot be taken with you.
