Local Backlinks

Local backlinks are incoming links from websites with a genuine regional connection – local media, clubs and associations, regional business bodies or the sponsorship of local events – which strengthen the local relevance signal of a website beyond classic link building.

In practice

Sponsoring a local event, the pages of clubs, trade guilds and regional initiatives, or a report in the regional press are natural and legitimate ways to earn such links. In Austria the chamber of commerce is no lever: membership is compulsory for anyone holding a trade licence, and the entry in its company directory is created automatically anyway. What counts is real topical relevance rather than bought or forced placements.
