Google Merchant Center

Google Merchant Center is the central platform through which retailers submit their product data to Google in order to appear in Google Shopping, free product listings and Performance Max campaigns. Since July 2026 the interface previously known as Merchant Center Next has simply been called Google Merchant Center again, with no change to features or accounts.

In practice

Retailers maintain their product data feed here (called “data sources” in Google Merchant Center), review the diagnostics for rejected products and use the Analytics tab for pricing and competitor insights. The key date at the moment is 18 August 2026: the old Content API for Shopping is being retired, but this affects only retailers with a programmatic feed connection through that interface – if you use scheduled fetches, manual uploads or Google Sheets, you need do nothing. Clean, complete product data remains the basic requirement for visibility in Shopping results.
