Social Media Management Tool

A social media management tool is software used to plan posts centrally for several channels, publish them on a schedule, handle comments and messages in one place and evaluate metrics. It connects through the application programming interfaces of the respective platforms.

In practice

For one or two channels the platform's own scheduling usually suffices; an additional tool becomes worthwhile from around three channels, or when several people must approve posts. Expect functional limits, since platform interfaces do not permit everything: Instagram's documentation states a ceiling of one hundred posts published through the interface per twenty-four hours, for example (as at August 2026; the limit has been adjusted several times in the past), and some formats can only be created in the app. Before choosing, check where the provider stores data, as a data processing agreement is required here. The most common mistake is holding the tool responsible for reach; it saves time but improves no content.
