Livestream Shopping & Video Commerce SEO

Livestream shopping and video commerce SEO covers the findability of live shopping formats and their recorded replays (VOD) in search engines and shopping results. Since 30 June 2026, retailers have been able to use the new Merchant Center attribute video_link to show product videos directly in Google Shopping, at 720p or better, six seconds to four minutes long and up to ten videos per product. The technical basis is structured VideoObject, Clip and BroadcastEvent markup: while a livestream is running, isLiveBroadcast is set to true; once the broadcast ends, the recording is marked up as a regular on-demand video with false and divided by Clip objects into individual product moments with jump marks. This distinguishes the format from static product videos and from platform-specific shopping formats such as TikTok Shop or Instagram Shopping.

In practice

Agencies should make sure that recordings of live shopping sessions are turned into VOD assets promptly after the broadcast and given complete VideoObject markup, including uploadDate, duration and thumbnailUrl. Each product presented is worth its own Clip object with startOffset and endOffset, so that Google can show individual product moments as jump marks in the search results. The new video_link in the product data feed should be maintained alongside the on-page markup, because organic video search and Google Shopping have different requirements for resolution and length. A permanently reachable replay on an indexable URL is essential – not just a story or a time-limited platform feed – otherwise the SEO effect of the format evaporates. Clients with a TikTok Shop or Instagram Shopping presence also benefit from their own replay library on the domain, as a complement to the platform-native formats.
