Accessibility Statement

An accessibility statement is a legally required page documenting the current accessibility status of a website, its known limitations and a way to contact the operator with feedback; in Austria it is governed by the Accessibility Act (BaFG) and the EU rules for public bodies.

In practice

The statement should be updated regularly and should name specifically which WCAG conformance level (AA, for example) was tested against and which content is excluded. A working contact option belongs in it so that users can report barriers they encounter. The statement is usually linked somewhere easy to find, most often in the website footer.
