EAA (European Accessibility Act)

The European Accessibility Act (EAA, Directive (EU) 2019/882) is an EU directive that sets uniform accessibility requirements across all member states for certain products and services, including many consumer-facing websites and apps.

In practice

The directive is transposed into national law – in Austria through the Accessibility Act (BaFG). It mainly affects websites with consumer transactions such as online shops, e-banking or booking systems; purely B2B websites without consumer transactions are generally out of scope.
