Interactive Content (Quizzes, Calculators, Configurators)
Interactive content covers content formats that require active participation – quizzes, calculators, product configurators or interactive surveys – rather than purely passive consumption. What the user enters produces a personalised result that doubles as a lead source. Unlike short, passively consumed snackable formats (micro-content) or a simple call to action, interactive content centres on a multi-step dialogue with the audience.
In practice
For small and medium-sized businesses, price, savings and requirement calculators and product configurators work best, because they feed straight into the sales funnel. Quiz and calculator formats tend to convert markedly better into leads than a static form, because users get a personal result in return for their data. How high the rate actually goes depends heavily on how clearly the topic and the value of the result are communicated up front – reliable comparative figures are scarce, since almost all published numbers come from the tool vendors themselves. The results page should carry an unambiguous call to action. As soon as an email address is requested, data protection and email marketing law come into play: users need transparent information about what the address will be used for, and any subsequent newsletter requires valid consent under section 174 of the Austrian Telecommunications Act 2021. How to structure the request in a given case – in particular whether the quiz result may be made conditional on providing data – is a question for legal review. Tools such as Outgrow or Involve.me, or custom JavaScript builds, make implementation possible without heavy development effort. Interactive content also sits well inside existing content hubs or alongside whitepapers and lead magnets.
