Conversion Tracking

Conversion tracking is the technical recording of whether and how often users complete a desired action, such as a purchase, a contact form or a newsletter sign-up. The data usually comes from GA4 key events or Google Ads conversion tags and forms the basis for automated bidding strategies and campaign measurement.

In practice

In practice, conversion tracking is set up through Google Tag Manager or directly via a gtag snippet, then marked as a key event in GA4 or imported into Google Ads. A common mistake is double counting, for example when the same order confirmation page is counted again every time it is reloaded in the browser. Regular reconciliation between shop orders and tracked conversions is therefore part of every sound tracking setup.
