Keyword Research

Keyword research is the systematic process of identifying the search terms an audience actually uses, together with search volume, competition and the underlying search intent. The results form the basis of content and SEO strategies, because they show which topics and phrasings genuinely matter to that audience.

In practice

Good keyword research groups search terms by search intent, whether informational, transactional, navigational or local, instead of going by search volume alone, since high volume does not automatically mean high relevance or buying intent. Increasingly, keyword research also takes account of the questions people put to AI answer systems, so that content can be aligned accordingly. On that basis you can set content priorities and tune existing pages to real search needs.
