Google Business Profile API

The Google Business Profile API is a programming interface for managing the location and account data of several Google Business Profiles automatically, instead of maintaining each profile individually through the web interface. It comprises several sub-APIs, for business information, account management, performance data and verifications, and is aimed mainly at agencies and multi-location businesses. The former sub-API for questions and answers is no longer part of it: the My Business Q&A API was discontinued on 3 November 2025.

In practice

For agencies with many client profiles, or chains with numerous locations, the API becomes worthwhile as soon as maintaining Google Business Profile by hand gets too laborious: opening hours, addresses, photos or replies to reviews can be controlled centrally through connected software instead of profile by profile. Access is not automatic: it has to be requested through a dedicated Google contact form ("Basic API access request"), after which Google reviews the use case and enables the quotas for the relevant Google Cloud project – which can take weeks. Many agencies therefore use specialist third-party tools that already have API access, rather than applying for approval themselves.
