Duplicate Listings
Duplicate listings occur when the same business appears more than once in Google Business Profile or a directory — often through an old address, a previous owner or an error by a data aggregator — splitting reviews between entries and confusing search engines and customers alike.
In practice
Searching regularly for your own business name uncovers duplicates early; the incorrect entry can then be merged or removed through Google's official process. Whether a merge also carries over the reviews left on the duplicate is not guaranteed – and the longer a duplicate stays live, the less likely it becomes.
