Marketplace SEO

Marketplace SEO optimises product listings on platforms such as Amazon, Otto or Kaufland.de for the platform's own internal search, which usually works on its own ranking factors such as conversion rate, reviews and click-through rate rather than on classic Google signals. Titles, bullet points, backend keywords and product images are adapted to each marketplace's format requirements.

In practice

Ranking logic differs noticeably from marketplace to marketplace: the Amazon ranking algorithm – often called 'A9' or now 'A10' in the industry, although Amazon has never officially confirmed either name – weights sales history, conversion rate and click-through rate heavily, while other marketplaces give more weight to seller ratings or delivery reliability. It is also important not to copy product titles and descriptions one to one from your own shop, but to adapt them to the search behaviour and character limits of the platform. Alongside visibility on the marketplace, check whether your own product pages create duplicate content risks against the marketplace listing.
