Content ROI (Measuring Success)

Content ROI is the practice of setting the business return of content marketing activity – traffic, leads, conversions or brand effect – against the time and cost invested in producing and distributing it.

In practice

A small set of meaningful figures per piece of content – organic traffic over time, attributed leads or enquiries, rankings for target terms – matters more than tracking everything possible, which quickly becomes unmanageable. Content ROI often only becomes visible after several months, which is why short-term verdicts on individual articles say very little.
