AI Governance in Companies
AI governance is the set of internal policies, processes and control structures a company uses to assess, approve, apply and monitor AI tools – increasingly not just good practice. For deployers of high-risk AI systems, Article 26 of the EU AI Act makes individual governance steps binding, and the duty to promote AI literacy under Article 4 applies to providers and deployers alike.
In practice
Even a simple internal policy helps: which AI tools are approved, which data may and may not be entered, and who checks AI-assisted content before publication? Small companies benefit too, because this is how data protection breaches, misinformation and liability risks are caught early.
