Multi-Channel Funnels (Conversion Paths)
Multi-Channel Funnels is a term from the old Universal Analytics describing how many different marketing channels users come into contact with a brand through before a conversion. The report itself no longer exists: Universal Analytics standard properties were switched off on 1 July 2023. In GA4 the "key event attribution paths" report takes over this function and shows the sequence of channels for each path; you will find it in the Advertising section under "Key events".
In practice
In practice, analysing these channel paths shows that organic search and social media often stand at the start of a customer journey, while paid search or direct traffic more often form the last touchpoint before a purchase. If you judge channels by last click alone, you systematically underestimate the contribution of channels further up the funnel. Do not look for the report under its old name: in GA4 it is called "key event attribution paths" and sits in the Advertising section, while the Multi-Channel Funnels view from Universal Analytics has been unavailable since UA standard properties were switched off.
