Google Business Profile – Be Found Where It Matters

Your presence in Google Search – clear, controlled, and privacy-conscious.

The first digital touchpoint with your business

Whether on a smartphone, tablet, or desktop: When people search for a local business, a Google Business Profile is often the first thing they see – displaying your address, opening hours, reviews, and more. It’s the digital front door to your brand – and a key opportunity to shape that first impression.

A fully optimized Google Business Profile not only boosts your visibility in local search results and on Google Maps, but also builds trust in your business. As a free tool, it lets you present key information clearly and directly – exactly where people are looking.

What Your Google Business Profile Can Do

A Google Business Profile is more than just a business listing – it’s your key presence in Google Search and on Google Maps. If you want to be found locally, this free tool is essential. When managed well, it not only increases your visibility, but also improves the quality of customer interactions.

Your benefits at a glance:

  • Boost local presence: Show up prominently in regional searches – directly in Google Search and on Maps.
  • Simplify customer contact: Click-to-call, directions, and website links make it easy to connect.
  • Keep information up to date: Manage opening hours, services, photos, and posts – all in one place.
  • Build trust through reviews: Customers can share their experiences – and you can respond authentically.
  • Promote your offers: Highlight news, events, or promotions directly in your profile.

Pro tip: The more complete and regularly updated your Google Business Profile is, the better it will perform in local search rankings. Active maintenance truly pays off.

Privacy and Control – Our Approach

Using a Google Business Profile doesn’t mean giving up control over your data. The profile is public and hosted by Google – independent of your website – offering visibility without automatically triggering privacy concerns.

The challenges begin when services like Maps or reviews are directly embedded into your site. These integrations often come with tracking technologies that require explicit user consent – creating both legal and technical hurdles.

Conclusion: Be Visible, Build Trust

A well-maintained Google Business Profile is often the first step toward a new customer – whether they find you in search results, on their smartphone, or nearby. First impressions matter: if your profile delivers clarity and relevance, it builds trust before the first conversation even begins.

At FINK Brot, we believe in visibility with integrity. We help you make the most of your profile – without compromising on privacy or control. This way, you combine reach with responsibility and strengthen your presence in your local market.

Let’s make your business visible – respectfully, effectively, and on your terms.

Google Business Profile – Questions & Answers

Want to know how to get the most out of your profile, handle reviews effectively, or ensure privacy-compliant use? In our FAQ section, you’ll find the most common questions – clearly explained and answered with practical tips.

  • What is a Google Business Profile?

A Google Business Profile (formerly known as Google My Business) is a free online listing that makes your business visible in Google Search and on Google Maps. It allows you to present key information like your address, opening hours, services, and customer reviews – right where potential customers are looking for it: locally, on mobile devices, and often at the most relevant moment.

  • Is a Google Business Profile free?

Yes, creating and managing a Google Business Profile is completely free of charge. There are no fees for using core features such as adding business information, publishing updates, or responding to customer reviews. Visibility in Google Search and on Google Maps is also free – making it an especially effective tool for small and medium-sized businesses to establish a strong local online presence.

  • How important is a Google Business Profile for local visibility?

A Google Business Profile is one of the most effective tools for improving your local online visibility. It ensures that your business appears in relevant regional searches – like “hairdresser in Graz” or “tax advisor near me.” A complete profile also increases your chances of ranking higher in Google Maps results.

For many users, the Business Profile is the first point of contact – even before they visit your website. That’s why it’s a key element in helping potential customers find you, reach out, and visit your business.

  • How can I optimize my Google Business Profile?

A well-maintained Google Business Profile directly improves your local search visibility. To get the most out of your profile, make sure to:

    • Complete all business details: name, address, opening hours, services, website link

    • Add high-quality photos: interior, exterior, team, products, or services

    • Publish regular updates: offers, events, or news keep your profile active

    • Respond to reviews: friendly, timely replies build trust and show customer focus

    • Review and update regularly: Google favors active, up-to-date profiles in local search rankings

Tip: The more actively you manage your profile, the better your chances of appearing at the top of local search results.

  • How should I handle negative reviews?

Negative reviews on your Google Business Profile can be uncomfortable – but they’re also an opportunity to demonstrate professionalism and customer care. The key is to respond calmly and promptly:

    • Reply politely and constructively: Show understanding and offer a solution-oriented response

    • Avoid public arguments: Don’t escalate – invite the reviewer to contact you directly

    • Encourage positive feedback: Ask satisfied customers to leave a review to balance the overall impression

A confident and respectful approach to criticism builds trust – and shows that you genuinely value customer feedback.

  • Can I embed my Google Business Profile on my website?

Technically, it’s possible to embed elements like Google Maps, reviews, or your Google Business Profile directly into your website. However, from a data protection perspective, this can be problematic: many of these integrations load external content and set tracking cookies – often without prior user consent.

    Our recommendation:

    • Link instead of embed: Use a direct link to your Google Business Profile to reduce legal risk

    • Use privacy-friendly alternatives: For maps, we recommend OpenStreetMap – no tracking, fully customizable

    • Load external content only with consent: If you do embed something, consider using two-click solutions that require user activation

This approach helps you stay legally compliant and build trust – without compromising on visibility.

  • How can I delete or close my Google Business Profile?

There are several ways to remove or close your Google Business Profile, depending on your situation:

    1. Mark your business as permanently closed

If your business has ceased operations, you can mark it as “Permanently closed.” This informs customers through Google Search and Maps, without deleting the profile entirely.

    How to do it:

    • Sign in to the Google account associated with your profile

    • Search for your business on Google or open it in Google Maps

    • Click “Edit profile” and navigate to the opening hours

    • Select “Permanently closed” and save your changes

Note: The profile remains visible, but with a “Permanently closed” label.

    2. Remove profile content and administrators

If you want to fully remove the profile from your Google account:

    • Open your Google Business Profile

    • Click the three-dot menu and choose “Business Profile settings”

    • Select “Remove business profile” and then “Remove profile content and managers”

    • Confirm the removal

Important: Even after removal, the business may still appear in Google Search or Maps unless it’s deemed ineligible by Google.

    3. Transfer ownership

If you no longer manage the business but want the profile to remain active:

    • Sign in to your Google account

    • Open the Business Profile and click “Manage users”

    • Add the email address of the new owner and assign them the role of “Primary owner”

    • After seven days, the new person can take full control of the profile

Note: New primary owners must wait seven days before they can remove other users or profile content.
